The Wammie Awards Announces 2019 Finalists
31-year-old Music Celebration to Award DC Artists & Musicians on March 31st
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – DC – The MusicianShip, a charitable non-profit organization that facilitates music lessons, experiences and opportunities, announces The Wammie Awards finalists. The Wammie Awards, which will be held on March 31st, has over 150 nominees in 62 artist categories that cover a large fabric of music including, Acapella, Bluegrass, Blues, Classical, Country, Gospel, Jazz, Rock, R&B, and more. The Wammie Awards show will be held on March 31, 2019 at 7pm E.T. at The Lincoln Theatre."We are excited to announce this substantial list of talented artists in the Washington region,” says Jeffery Tribble Jr., Executive Director, The MusicianShip. “It’s by far one of the most diverse nominee cohorts we’ve seen across categories, and we can’t wait to announce the winners over the first ever Wammie Weekend.”Wammie Weekend, the new two-day experience, will start with a Day Conference on Saturday, March 30th and culminate with The DC-focused award show on March 31st. Award announcements will be split between the Day Conference and the Wammie Award Show.Nominations for the 2019 Wammie Awards were for music releases debuted in the calendar year of 2018 between January 1st and December 31st. The public, residing in DC, Maryland or Virginia, were encouraged to nominate their favorite DC artists, bands, and musicians by January 31, 2019. Finalists were then selected by an impressive team of judges who are experts in the arts, media, culture, and education fields.The Wammie Awards will help raise money for The MusicianShip’s free-of-charge music programs, this year serving over 1600 youth, and continues to be a resource for local DC artists and musicians.Wammie Weekend kicks off on March 30th with the day conference at Decades Nightclub, and offers seminars and networking opportunities with over 60 music industry professionals, 20 hours of music education track content, and live music all day.
