THE COUNTDOWN TO THE 35TH ANNUAL WAMMIE MUSIC AWARDS BEGINS
Record-setting music fan nominations generates unprecedented excitement for the announcement of category finalists, featured live performances, and tickets to the 2023 ‘The Hitmakers Ball’

‍Washington, DC—2023 Wammie Music Award Audiences are breaking records with over 1,000 nominations and nearly 20,000 votes for the nominees who will make it to the Finalist round. Music fans have until 11:59PM tonight to cast their votes. Finalists were announced on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at 9 PM EST at wammiesdc.org. Tickets to the Wammie Music Awards will go on sale to the general public on Friday, February 3rd.

The 35th Annual Wammie Music Awards, presented by The MusicianShip, is slated for Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Capital Turnaround. This year’s theme, "The Hitmakers Ball” was created to celebrate the DMV region’s rich music legacy and its culture-shaping influence on fashion, style, and community. Wammie Week will return Tuesday, March 28th through Sunday, April 2nd, at various venues across The District, filled with music industry panels, networking events, and a film screening.

What to expect at the Award Show? Red carpet glamour, a special 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop tribute, featuring DMV-based Hip Hop artists Whistle, Nonchalant, Uptown X.O., Pinky Killacorn, Innanet James with music by DJ Reddz. The two-hour show will feature a variety of multi-genre performances, including Mumu Fresh, Perro Sombra, The Howard University S.H.O.W.T.I.M.E. Marching Band, Rayshun LaMarr from NBC The Voice, 3 Exits to Memphis, The Washington Youth Choir, Marc2Ray, the iconic Go-Go band EU, and others! With a VIP reception and official after-party all on site, the evening will be dedicated to celebrating music legacy, the winners, and our outstanding music community.
