Do you have a favorite DMV musician or artist you feel deserves a Wammie Music Award for music they published in 2022? Now is the time to shine a light on the musicians, artists, and industry changemakers who represent the best of the DMV.

Learn about eligibility rules, genres, award categories and the process here. Nominations are open between December 1, 2022 - January 10, 2023.

What to Expect from the 2023 Wammies Season?

The 35th Annual Wammie Music Awards, presented by The MusicianShip, will be the main event of Wammies Music Week, scheduled for Wednesday, March 29th - Sunday, April 2nd, 2023. In addition to the awards show on April 1st, this exciting week will feature music industry panels, guest speakers, special performances, a pre-event VIP Gala, and film screening, at designated venues across The District. Spotify and WUSA 9 have signed on as major sponsors for the 2023 season!

Wammie Music Awards will be bestowed upon a multi-genre “playlist’ of top DMV Music talent, representing Electronic, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Go-Go, Bluegrass, Country, Gospel, Rock and many other categories. New General and Community Interest Award categories will include Best Music Video, Best Youth Artist-Group, Music Trailblazer Award, and the Lifetime Achievement Award!

‍2023 Wammies Season Schedule

• ‍December 1, 2022 - January 10, 2023: Nomination Period
  The DMV public (including artists/musicians themselves) submits nominations in any award category they choose. Get your nominations in early!
• ‍January 1-31, 2023: Public Voting Period
  The DMV public votes for their favorite nominees. The public vote determines the top 7 Nominees in each category who continue on as Finalists.
• ‍February-March 2023: Music Industry Judging Period
  Wammies Music Industry Judges and Music Writers score the finalists. The finalist with the highest scores from official industry judges wins the award category.‍
• March 29 - April 2, 2023: Wammie Week
  Featured industry panels, guest speakers, special performances, a VIP pre-event, and film screening at designated venues across The District.‍
• April 1st, 2023: The 35th Annual Wammie Music Awards: Reception, Awards Show, and After-Party! 700+ guests expected! Winners will be announced and celebrated.
